Whether you're capturing your client's credit card for the first time, or they need to update their card, you can offer your client a safe and secure way to submit their credit card to you by typing it in themselves instead of reading the info to you over the phone.
To do this, you can use the "Request Credit Card Link" feature, which allows them to pay securely online. This link directs them to a secure form where they can safely submit their credit card details. Here's how it works...
- Please Note: You must first connect your account to Stripe in order use the Client Billing feature.
1. From the Site Details page in the "Setup Client Billing" section, you'll either see a button labeled "Set Up an Upfront + Recurring Fee" (if there is no credit card on file yet) or a button labeled "View or Manage Recurring Subscription" if they already have a card on file. Click that button.
2. Click on "Request new credit card link"
3. Copy the link provided.
- Please note: each link is specific to an individual site and cannot be used for other sites in your account.
4. Share the link with your client.
- You can now paste that link inside an email or text message that you send to the client.
- It's always best to include the details of the fees you plan on charging the client including the setup fee and monthly service fee.
When the client receives the email and clicks on the link, they will be taken to a page that looks like this where they can safely submit their credit card information using a secure online form.
You will need to wait until your client submits their card information in order to proceed to the next step. Be sure to confirm with them that they have taken this action.
5. Once the client successfully submits their credit card information, you can go back to the Client Billing section on the Site Details page, and finalize the transaction by assigning a plan and clicking on the "Complete Order" button.
- Please Note: This step is necessary in order to complete the transaction. The client's credit card will not be charged if you don't complete this step.
